Every Single Eras Tour Surprise Song by Taylor Swift

When it comes to the unexpected song selections from Taylor Swift's The Eras Tour, some Swifties have been lucky than others.

Swift has utilized the last portion of her act to sing songs from her entire repertoire that aren't on the extensive setlist of her concerts since the start of her record-breaking tour in March 2023. However, Swift has occasionally utilized the segment to unveil unique mash-ups of her best-known songs.

Swift started the trend by fusing 1989's "Is It Over Now?" with "Out of the Woods" (Taylor's Version) at a performance in Buenos Aires in November 2023. Swift said that same month that she will be performing a tune more than once during her worldwide Eras Tour dates, breaching her own surprise song rule.

At a gig in São Paulo, Brazil, she informed audiences, "I decided that in 2024, when we go back on tour, I'm just gonna open back up all the songs for surprise songs," adding that her whole catalog was "fair game."

"Is It Over Already?" together with "Out of the Woods."

Swift shocked Argentina fans with a mashup of songs from 1989 (TV), which was released in October 2023, one month after the album's release. Since both songs are allegedly about the pop star's ex-boyfriend Harry Styles, Swifties instantly connected the dots.

"When you lost control / red blood, white snow" is a line from the vault song "Is it Over Now?" They were romantically together from late 2012 until early 2013. In 2012, Styles was spotted with a bandage on his chin following a snowmobile mishap.

Swift also mentions sitting in a "blue dress on a boat" in the song, a reference to a shot she took on a yacht shortly after she and Styles parted up.

With lines like "Remember when you hit the brakes too soon? / Twenty stitches in the hospital room," "Out of the Woods" is also thought to be about Styles and Swift's snowmobile accident. The paper aircraft necklaces they were both spotted wearing throughout their brief affair are also mentioned in the song's lyrics.

"August," "Getaway Car," and "The Other Side of the Door"

Eras Tour Surprise Song by Taylor Swift

Swift shocked fans by switching from playing Reputation's "Getaway Car" on guitar to "August" from Folklore, which is part of the tour's main setlist, at a February 2024 performance in Melbourne, Australia. She added "The Other Side of the Door" from Fearless (Taylor's Version) to complete the acoustic performance.

According to social media footage from the performance, she said to the audience, "I want to play one that you really want to hear, I want you to be happy."

Once more, fans were eager to see a common theme across the three songs: infidelity. While "The Other Side of the Door" questions if the second women in a relationship was "worth the mess" it created, the lyrics to "Getaway Car" liken being trapped in a love arrangement with three people to being a "sideshow."

Along with "Cardigan" and "Betty," "August" is one of three folk tunes that describe a love triangle. A male called James cheated on his fiancée Betty with a girl named August, and the song tells the incident from her point of view.

"Return … Be Present" and "Daylight"

Swift took out her guitar to perform a mash-up of "Daylight" from Lover and "Come Back … Be Here" from Red (Taylor's Version) at her third Eras Tour show in Melbourne. While Swift talks about letting go of the chaos of previous relationships after supposedly meeting her ideal mate in "Daylight," "Come Back … Be Here" portrays the narrative of a person seeking to revive a shattered connection.

The song "Daylight" has Swift singing, "And I can still see it all (in my mind) / All of you, all of my (intertwined) / I once believed love would be (black and white) / But it's golden (golden)."

Swift hinted at the possibility of repeating unexpected songs for the rest of the tour during her third performance in Melbourne. According to social media footage, she told fans, "I want to be as creative as possible with the acoustic set going forward, and I don't want to limit anything or say, 'Oh, if I played this song, I can't play it again.'?" "Therefore, I don't want to remove any paint colors or tools from the paintbox going forward."

Coney Island and White Horse

Eras Tour Surprise Song by Taylor Swift

Sydney was the next stop of Swift's Australia Eras Tour. Swift's opening act, Sabrina Carpenter, performed a mash-up of "White Horse" from Fearless (TV) and "Coney Island" from Evermore on her first night in the city after Carpenter's show was canceled due to bad weather.

The termination of relationships are depicted in the lyrics of both songs once the individuals involved discover that their love relationship is not what they had anticipated or what it used to be.

"I should have said no." together with "You're Not Sorry." "Peace" as well as "New Year's Day"

Swift's second Sydney Eras Tour performance in February 2024 featured her first set of double-secret song mash-ups. She started by fusing "You're Not Sorry" from Fearless (TV) with "Should've Said No" from her self-titled first album, Taylor Swift, on the guitar. Relationships where one spouse was unfaithful are discussed in both of the breakdown tracks.

Swift sang Folklore's "Peace" and Reputation's "New Year's Day" after the mashup, in which the singer examines her romantic relationships. Swift urges her lover to "please don't ever become a stranger whose laugh I could recognize anywhere" in "New Year's Day," but in "Peace," she wonders if her celebrity is preventing her from preserving "peace" in a relationship.
